The Yaskawa Electric Corporation,founded in 1915 and headquartered in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan, is a Japanese manufacturer of servos, motion controllers, AC motor drives, switches and industrial robots. Since the first release of an all-electric industrial robot named "Motoman" in Japan in 1988, the company's Motoman robots have since been widely used worldwide. The robots are used in arc welding, spot welding, handling, assembly, painting and other industrial processes.
Yaskawa produces around 20,000 robots every year and has installed more than 300,000 industrial robots worldwide. The company's robot sales were roughly 136 billion yen ($1.13 billion) during the fiscal year, which ended in March 2015, according to the company's website.
