A charity ball was held on Dec 7 in the Shangri-La Hotel Dalian, raising 461,800 yuan ($73,900) through ticket sales, an auction and contributions from enterprises.

The money will be used to help children at a local rehabilitation center for autistic children and a rural kindergarten to upgrade teaching facilities and arrange activities.

Nearly 400 executives of foreign-invested companies in Dalian and representatives from some enterprises attended the Fifth Winter Charity Ball, which was co-organized by the Shangri-La Hotel Dalian and the International Club of Dalian, an organization that aims to provide networking for expatriates living in Dalian and to raise funds for charitable projects.

The annual charity ball has become an important event for expats in Dalian. In the last winter’s ball, they donated 320,000 yuan, half of which was donated to the rehabilitation center for autistic children.
