China's top court has pledged to strengthen the punishment for repeat offenders of intellectual property rights on Tuesday.
Wang Shengjun, president of China's Supreme People's Court, pledged to set up a punitive compensation system for repeat and malicious infringements of intellectual property rights.
He made the remarks in a report delivered to the top legislature.
China has seen a significant increase in the number of intellectual property disputes.
Although some places have tried tribunals to collectively hear cases on intellectual property protectionprotection, it is necessary to establish a specific court specializing in the field to ensure the professionalism of rulings, Wang said.
