BEIJING - Chinese Vice-Premier Liu Yandong met with Keiji Fukuda, World Health Organization (WHO) assistant director general for health security and environment, on Wednesday, to discuss the H7N9 avian flu.
Since the outbreak of the H7N9 virus, the Chinese government has taken it seriously and dealt with it actively and scientifically, Liu said, citing open and transparent information, effective treatment of infected people and monitoring of the disease.
Liu pledged China will continue to step up prevention and control of the virus and ensure the safety of lives and people's health.
Fukuda and WHO experts hailed the Chinese government's efforts to deal with the H7N9 avian flu in a transparent and open manner and take effective measures.
They also pledged to offer continued technology support.
