The happiest time of the year for 14-year-old girl Liu Jing is the summer holiday. It's during the two-month summer holiday that she can visit her parents in Shanghai - the longest time she can spend with her parents in a year. Liu Jing's parents, who work in waste recycling, are among the 268.94 million migrant workers in China. A migrant worker in 2013 can make an average of 2,069 yuan ($336) per month, according to the National Bureau of Statistics
As summer holiday draws to an end, Liu Jing and many like her have to return to their home town to attend school. Like migrant birds these "migrant kids" visit their parents during the summer and return home for school.
