China's Islands - Part 6: Garden in the sea

Gulangyu Island is located to the southwest of Xiamen Island，previously known as "Yuansha Zhou" and then "Yuanzhou Zai".

From Gulangyu Island you can see Xiamen city across the sea. It takes 5 minutes to cross the 600 meter wide Lujiang river between Gulangyu Island and Xiamen Island.

Gulangyu Island is 1.87 square kilometers in area and has around 20,000 inhabitants. Due to its rich history, there are many well preserved Chinese and European architectural styles amongst the buildings.
