Running on water: a nearly impossible feat

A "Running on water" competition is held at Shiyan Lake in Changsha city, central China's Hunan province on April 28, 2015. People dressed in off-beat clothes ran on the 50-meter-long track, which was made of sleeping mats. The competitor who finishes the route would win 1,000 yuan ($161.2). According to a monk who has preformed the stunt before, one has to run very fast on objects such as mats and planks to gain additional support for a very short time to avoid sinking in the water, and in addition to a fast speed, stepping in the center of the support is also crucial for the runner to keep his balance on the surface of the water.
