BRUSSELS - One man was arrested in the Brussels district of Molenbeek on Monday in a major police operation following Friday's terrorist attacks in Paris, local media reported.
Belgian broadcaster RTL had reported that the man arrested was Salah Abdeslam, the man suspected of being involved in the Paris attacks, however the Belgian federal prosecutor's office told public broadcaster RTBF that this was not the case.
Simon Francois, a journalist for RTBF, said: "We heard explosions, followed by federal police shouting orders over a megaphone. These instructions were then repeated. A man was ordered to stand at a window with his hands raised."
Sandor Zsiros, EU correspondent at Euronews, tweeted a photo that appeared to show a man being taken away by police following the Molenbeek raid.
Belgian police have told press assembled at the scene to stop broadcasting live images. Local residents have been told to stay inside.
